2014 Work Safety Award Winner
On 31st October 2014, Pentagon Freight Services’ Australian Supply Base Manager Peter Minchin attended the WorkSafe Western Australia 2014 Work Safety Awards as a finalist in the Best individual contribution to workplace safety and health (with no formal OSH responsibilities) category.
I am excited to formally announce today that Peter was judged as being the overall winner for this category and as such was presented the Work Safety Award by the Honourable Michael Mischin, MLC, being the Minister for Commerce & Worksafe.
In total with all categories combined there were only four awards presented in the state, making Peter’s achievement all the more significant.
Peter was shortlisted because in order to manage the significant safety risks from multiple tenants and subcontractors at the supply base, he introduced a meeting and consultation plan/program that has led to an outstanding safety culture at the base.
Peter’s hard work in this area demonstrates the importance of a strong consultative approach to managing QHSE in the workplace and further the importance of communication. His efforts further show that QHSE needs to embraced at all levels and by every single one of us in our day to day operations if we are serious about creating a QSHE and continuous improvement focused workplace.
Congratulations to Peter on this important and significant achievement. Well done!
