Pentagon and Arts of Smart Present Cheque to Breast Cancer Care

  • Congratulations to Ruth Gammack, INSIGHT Systems Manager at Pentagon Freight Services, who recently completed the 45th TCS London Marathon – one of the hottest on record, with temperatures hitting 22°C. Ruth was one of 56,640 finishers, helping set a new Guinness World Record for the most participants to complete a marathon! She crossed the finish line with a medal, a single blister, and a tremendous sense of achievement.

Even more impressively, Ruth ran in support of Brain Tumour Research, UK, raising £3,187 and counting.

Ruth had this to say after the event:

“It was a fantastic day from start to finish. The crowds were amazing and really kept me going from about mile 15 to the end. I didn’t even need the curated marathon playlist my friends and family had been adding to all week. I’ve walked away relatively unscathed with only one blister and all my toenails intact.”

What inspired you to take on this challenge?

“It has always been on the bucket list, I applied on a whim not thinking I would get in.”

Is this your first marathon, or have you run others before?

    “Yes, first marathon, probably last.”

    How was the training?

“So far it went fine, I stayed injury free and got to eat whatever I wanted in between runs, which was a plus.”

    What was the biggest challenge?

“I didn’t realise how time-consuming it would be, it really takes your life up running three to four times a week.”

What were your goals for the marathon, just finishing, hitting a certain time, etc.?

    “Finishing it.”

How did you celebrate after crossing the finish line?

“A big glass of wine and a roast.”

How many days off work did you need to recover?

“As many as I could get.”

What advice would you give to someone considering training for a marathon?

“Be prepared to try on about 40 pairs of trainers to try and find the perfect pair.”

Do you have a go-to song or playlist to keep you motivated?

“Very much depends on the day, but a race playlist is in the works so any suggestions are welcome.”

There’s still time to donate in support of Ruth’s fundraising efforts but get in quick as the donation window closes soon!

✅ Engineering for sea fastening calculations
    ✅ A detailed method statement
✅ Ships agency support in Stavanger and Peterhead
✅ Expert on-site coordination during loading

From initial planning through to final discharge, the project was delivered safely on time and on budget.

    Well done team, excellent job!

  • In the lead-up to the Carabao Cup final, our Newcastle team got into the spirit by wearing their jerseys in support—well, almost all of them! One Liverpool fan stood their ground, keeping the friendly rivalry alive.

After a hard-fought match, Newcastle came out on top with a 2-1 victory, ending their 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy. A historic moment for the club leading to plenty of celebrations among the team!
