Role Overview
The Regional QHSE & Compliance Manager will report to the President – Americas Region and will be responsible for the region’s quality, health, safety and environmental management systems and compliance functions. This role is the principal QHSE advisor to the President and the Senior Leadership Team and will ensure the management of relevant programs to ensure that PFS meets its regional goals, best practice industry standards and remains at all times compliant with legislative requirements.
Responsibilities
The Regional QHSE & Compliance Manager is responsible and accountable for (but not limited to) the following:
- Supporting the achievement of the Group’s QHSE Strategic Plan and associated programs, through working closely with the International QHSE Centre of Excellence, led by the Global QHSE Director.
- Implementation and management of the regional QHSE management system, in accordance with applicable legislative requirements, relevant standards and contractual obligations.
- Management and co-ordination of health, workers compensation, rehabilitation and employee wellbeing practices across the region.
- Manage and coordinate regional activities with respect to QHSE accreditations and audits relating to the OHSAS18001 Health & Safety standard and the ISO14001 Environmental standard, with a further strong focus on the ISO9001 Quality standard.
- Manage the regional control of documents, records and associated systems in line with quality management system requirements
- Act as the regional Management Representative in relation to PFS QHSE & Compliance activities.
- Preventing occupational illness and injury through the strategic implementation of hazard identification and risk management principles across all regional operations.
- Conduct monitoring, measurement and analysis of management system performance culminating in the reporting on regional QHSE performance to various parties including President and Regional Senior Leadership Team.
- QHSE Event and non-conformance investigation including ensuring events have corrective actions assigned and that these are closed out in a timely manner.
- Planning, implementation and recording of QHSE training as well as ensuring all legislative training requirements are met, ensuring that all personnel are aware of the company’s requirements, systems and provisions.
- Reviewing and auditing regional suppliers and contractors to ensure they pose minimal QHSE risk to the company.
- Assisting the Global Compliance Director in the management of regional FCPA, Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption programs.
- Monitor and provide support to ensure enterprise-wide compliance with regional, federal and/or local import and export laws and regulations in locations where the Company conducts business;
- Provide guidance and support in harmonized tariff determination, ECCN classification, country of origin identification, coordinate trade compliance training needs, and deliver training as needed; and
- Other appropriate duties as required.
Selection Criteria – Essential
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a regional, national or relevant multi-site QHSE management role.
- Demonstrable high-level leadership and interpersonal skills appropriate to the position.
- Extensive experience working in a similar QHSE and compliance focussed role, managing the QHSE needs of a business across multiple jurisdictions.
- Specific and relevant experience in managing corporate quality management system policies, procedures and processes.
- Demonstrated experience in deploying import and /or export compliance support at an international company.
- Demonstrated experience and success in working with applicable regulatory government agencies regarding import and export regulations including Customs Regulations, Census Regulations, the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Economic Sanctions Programs, US Anti-boycott Regulations, import and export classifications, as well as other related regional requirements.
- Demonstrable experience in leading cross functional teams, particularly in the areas of QHSE and compliance.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills appropriate to the position.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaboration between employees, managers and business partners.

- Previous experience working within the transport and logistics sector.
- Experience in the energy and resource sectors, particularly with a QHSE focus.
- Exposure to preparing and contributing to corporate tender and bid submissions.
- Membership of relevant industry association/s.
Qualifications / Licenses
- Degree, Diploma or suitable level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or similar field.
- Further formal qualifications in Business, Auditing, Quality Management, Audit.
- Formal qualifications in Training, Assessment & Education or equivalent.
- Current unrestricted drivers licence.
